Our Mission

TO TEACH THE PURPOSE OF GOD’S WORD ACCORDING TO ITS PURPOSE AS GIVEN IN SCRIPTURE.

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.  John 20:31

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.  2 Timothy 3:16

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

TO TEACH HOW TO STUDY AND UNDERSTAND GOD’S WORD.

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:Isaiah 28:9,10

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.2 Peter 1:19,20

TO TEACH THE THREE (3) STAGE PROCESS OF SALVATION AS GIVEN IN SCRIPTURE SO THAT AN INDIVIDUAL MAY BE ABLE TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION, “WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?”

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Romans 10:8-10, 13

FIRST STEP IS TO BE SAVED FROM THE PENALTY OF SIN

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Romans 6:23

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.Ephesians 2:8,9

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the
world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth
not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  John 3:16-18

SECOND STEP IS TO BE SAVED FROM THE POWER OF SIN

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not
under the law, but under grace.  Romans 6:14

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken
unto you.John 15:3

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not
seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 John 3:6-9

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.Romans 12:1,2

THIRD STEP IS TO BE SAVED FROM THE PRESENCE OF SIN

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.  Romans 8:30
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.  Philippians 3:21
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  1 Corinthians 15:53

TO TEACH HOW TO DO THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY OF JESUS CHRIST AS THE BODY OF CHRIST
SCRIPTURAL PRECEPT OF SUBMISSION

“. . .Yea, all of you be subject one to another” (1 Peter 5:5)

In matters of church governing structure, the guiding foundational precept from Scripture is submission.  The members of Abiding Word Fellowship Church shall work together to establish and keep current the purposes, core values, and mission
of the church in establishing the vision for the work of the ministry of Jesus Christ as given by God to the pastor.

SUBMISSION WILL BE DEMONSTRATED AMONG MEMBERS IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

Universal – acknowledging the all-encompassing Lordship of Jesus Christ
Functional – recognizing a distinguishing of our roles and the work we are called
to do by God as established by Scripture
Relational – loving acknowledgment of another’s value as a person by actively
obeying the Scripture of 1 Cor. the 13th chapter.
Reciprocal – cooperating in a mutual humility with one another

Scriptural precept for co-operative work

1 Cor. 3:9  “For we are labourers together with God: . . .”

TO TEACH THE IDENTITY OF JESUS CHRIST AS GIVEN IN SCRIPTURE

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 3:16
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.  John 5:39

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.  John 8:57,58

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  Genesis 1:1

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  John 1:3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John 1:1,14
Who is the image of the invisible God,…for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  Colossians 1:15; 2:9
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?  John 14:9
I and my Father are one.  John 10:30

TO TEACH THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.  John 14:16-17, 26

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.  John 16:13

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.  Acts 1:8
